“…The SETS integrated inquiry-based science teaching materials aimed at training and developing concept mastery have positive points and are very well used in the learning process. This is because students are required to learn directly or independently in finding a concept through scientific work procedures using scientific method steps so that they can train and develop an understanding of the scientific process [25,26] and indirectly train and develop critical thinking skills. and creative students in solving a given problem [27,28].…”

“…Participants agreed that the laboratory cookbook could describe and support students' learning, and experimental techniques do not teach students' thinking skills. These findings indicate that the teacher has realized the shortcomings of the laboratory cookbook model that they applied when doing a practicum (Malik, Setiawan, Suhandi, Permanasari & Sulasman 2018;Imaduddin & Hidayah 2019). Participants stated that the inquiry laboratory practicum guide strengthened their understanding of the content.…”

“…Direct observation through practical activities in the laboratory allows students to explain chemically events that occur in their daily environment (Imaduddin & Hidayah, 2019;Gupta, dkk., 2015). Practicum can also improve students' skills because they are required to solve problems, analyze facts and find their own concepts as a result of the treatment and observations they make.…”
