Abstract:Diclidophora nezumiae Munroe, Campbell, and Zwerner, 1981 is redescribed from the common grenadier, Nezumia bairdi (Macrouridae), in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. A prostatic vesicle is present in the terminal male genitalia. A complete lamellate extension attached to peripheral sclerite c1, is present in the clamp anterior jaw of Diclidophora nezumiae. Variability in the appearance of the clamp of Diclidophora nezumiae is presented.
“…is chosen as the typespecies. (see Rubec, 1991b) and in five other species herein re-assigned to the genus Macrouridophora n. g.: M. paracoelorhynchi (Mamaev & Paruchin, 1979) n. comb., M. coelorhynchi (Robinson, 1961) n.…”

“…and M. nezumiae (Munroe, Campbell & Zwerner, 1981) n. comb. Variability in the appearance of the lamellate extension, symphysis between sclerites a3, c3 and the suctorial apparatus in the clamps of all species re-assigned to Macrouridophora n. g. was adequately described and represented by Rubec (1991b), and cannot be used as characteristics of specific importance. comb., M. attenuata (Mamaev & Zubtschenko, 1979) n.…”

“…nezumiae n. comb. Egg morphology (in utero) is quite variable, with a broad, curved needle-like appendage at the abopercular end and a short, blunt, recurved hook at the opercular end (paratype USNM 76927) or with appendages reversed at the polar ends (Rubec, 1991b). The body shape is variable, being broadly triangular to elongate, with a broadly expanded unspecialised haptor.…”

“…is the smallest and most abundant species in this genus (see Munroe et al, 1981;Rubec, 1991b). 3, Rubec, 1991b The detailed morphology of prostatic vesicle is difficult to observe in most type-specimens examined.…”
The present study re-examines the detailed morphology of the type-species, Diclidophora merlangi (Kuhn, in Nordmann, 1832) Kr6yer, 1838, and other Diclidophora species parasitic on gadid fishes: D. denticulata

Macrouridophora halargyrea n. sp. (Monogenea: Diclidophoridae)is described from the gills of the morid teleost Halargyreus johnsonii caught off the Faroe Islands in the North-eastern Atlantic. This new species is differentiated from ten other species in the genus MacrouridophoraRubec & Dronen, in press, by its: specialised heart-shaped haptor distinctly set-off from the body proper; inverted orientation of the first three anterior pairs of clamps; distinct spinulation covering the isthmus and haptor; small body size; small numbers of testes; and host.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
