“…These are found in Aptian–Albian deposits of Brazil and Central Africa, respectively (Fara, Gayet & Taverne, ), and could be sister taxa (Near, Dornburg & Friedman, ). † Dastilbe batai from the Aptian–Albian of Equatorial Guinea is poorly preserved and may belong to the genus † Parachanos (Dietze, ). Thus, the palaeobiogeographic distribution of † Dastilbe and † Parachanos at the end of the Early Cretaceous is consistent with vicariance associated with opening of the South Atlantic.…”

“…Numerous Early Cretaceous ostariophysans belonging to the Gonorynchiformes are known from Spain and Brazil [e.g., †Rubiesichthys, †Gordichthys (Fig. 5d), and †Dastilbe; see Dietze, 2007;Brito, Amaral, 2008; and Mexico ( †Sapperichthys; Amaral et al, 2013). Additionally, †Chanoides macropoma from the Middle Eocene of Monte Bolca, Italy and †Nardonoides chardoni from the Upper Cretaceous of Nardò have recently been confirmed as stem otophysans (Mayrinck et al, 2015a).…”

“…Ribeiro et al (2005), on the basis of newly collected material, re-examined the status of Dastilbe moraesi and supported it as valid. Dietze (2007) agreed that Dastilbe elongatus is a junior synonym of the type species but argued that Dastilbe moraesi is too poorly known to arrive at any conclusion in this respect. Finally, Brito, Amaral (2008) concluded that, due to the high plasticity of the characters, it is impossible to distinguish any nominal species from the type species.…”
