Libraries around the world have enjoyed a remarkable history of working together. The present contexts of collaboration in other sectors of society, of a growing literature on collaborative management theory and practice, of the Colorado experience in library collaboration, constitute fertile soil that nurtures new initiatives in collaboration. No Brief Candle provides perspectives on the importance of collaboration for libraries of the 21 st century. The new journal, Collaborative Librarianship, builds on the great traditions of the past and seeks to promote library networking, cooperation and partnerships in new ways. Readers are invited to participate in this new venture.

Purpose-The purpose of this paper is to provide a case study of organizational change at an academic library Design/methodology/approach-The change process employed scenario modeling techniques Findings-The scenario modeling technique was found to be effective in developing shared understandings about the future directions of an organization. The next stage involved identifying the implications involved in implementing organizational change to achieve the future organization outlined in the scenario. This stage identified three issues that would need significant investment before the scenario could be realized. They were skills development, management practices and the structure of the Library. Reorganization requires attention to cultural and personal issues to enable an organization to undergo major change. Research limitations/implications-A range of techniques, tools and experiments were used. There would be limitations in applying these in a general way to other organizations. Originality/value-The scale of the change process is significant in terms of the size of the undertaking and the time taken achieve. This paper describes the process. It is too early to predict whether the organizational change is successful.

Academic libraries and academic institutions are always interlinked and dependent on the purpose of serving educational activities and the well-designed curriculum of the formal education system. Academic institutions without a library have no significance and an academic library without its parent institution has no origin. But it is rarely found that these are named, discussed, analyzed, and worked together as a whole. This study aimed to find out the academicians’ perceptions of the symbiotic relationship between academic institutions and libraries. For the study, the Central Departments of the University Campus Tribhuvan University, Nepal were chosen. The study followed the quantitative method using a survey research design through a questionnaire tool eleven responses were received. Data were analyzed descriptively. Academicians have a keen interest in the establishment of libraries within the department and arrange the library scientifically to enhance research and teaching learning activities. In most of the departmental libraries the post of librarian was found vacant. The praiseworthy dedication of the academicians to the development of libraries for their collaborative partnership was found. They are very much sure about the impact of libraries in teaching learning and research activities. The service delivered by the libraries as the first door to the search for information bystudents and faculties is recommended undoubtedly.
