Redefining diabetes and the concept of self-management from a patient’s perspective: implications for disease risk factor management

Abstract: The colliding epidemics of non-communicable diseases including diabetes with chronic infectious diseases in Sub-Saharan Africa requires contextualized innovative disease management strategies.
