“…Thus, the water molecules form hydrogen bonds with the hydroxyl groups present in the cellulosic fibers diffusing the water molecules at the matrix/fiber interface. Similar results were obtained by Ngaowthong et al 66 and Singh et al 67 The WA results from our study were significantly lower than most fiber‐reinforced HDPE composites. 66,67 Despite seeing an increase in the WA of our composites, they are within the target range of moisture content in WPCs, which is approximately 7%–15%, depending on location and environment 68 .…”

“…[109,110] In transportation industry, approximately 10% of the weight of the vehicle is plastic. This process begins with T A B L E 2 Properties of PLA, PLLA, PDLA, and PDLLA 71,94,95 PLA is designed to decompose quickly, but researchers want to make sure it will last the lifetime of a vehicle before that decomposition process starts [111,112] Agriculture Compostable Higher cost compared to conventional plastics [113,114] rarely-seen components, such as engine covers and impact shields, and extends to exterior components including doors and instrument panels. Most of these plastics used contain heavy glass fibers, which increase their strength.…”

“…The abundance of C–O bonds and C=O bonds increased with increasing PA concentration, while the abundance of O–C=O groups first increased and then decreased with increasing PA concentration. The O–C=O combined with the hydroxyl group on the adjacent C atoms to form CO 2 , resulting in a decrease in the content of O–C=O at high PA concentrations, resulting in a slight decrease in the interfacial shear strength [ 47 , 48 ]. Thus, the optimal PA concentration was determined to be 2 g/L.…”
