PurposeThe purpose of the article is to analyze the chain of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) and its waste (WEEE), within the product chain of Recicladora Urbana (Reurbi), and its interaction with the circular economy.Design/methodology/approachExploratory research with a qualitative approach, based on the study case method, was conducted. The following stages were carried out: definition of the study object; bibliographic survey; documentary survey; technical visit to Reurbi; contacts with experts; creation of research instruments and research execution.FindingsThe main recipients of remanufactured EEE are third sector organizations that run social programs and schools with few financial resources. Recycling firms receive parts and components from the WEEE handled by Reurbi.Research limitations/implicationsThe authors only addressed the WEEE reverse remanufacturing chain of Reurbi; therefore, the authors cannot extend the results to an industrial sector.Practical implicationsOne practical contribution is disclosing the remanufacturing processes of EEE and the recycling processes of its waste, fostered by the National Solid Waste Policy (PNRS), under a circular economy policy.Social implicationsThere is a large market potential for reverse logistics of WEEE and end-of-life EEE as a source of raw material, which is yet to be explored in Brazil, for creating new jobs and revenue.Originality/valueThe publication of articles with the main reflections from the results can provide new discussions and provide opportunities for new studies regarding the Brazilian Solid Waste Policy.

A pandemia de COVID-19 tem evidenciado desafios para as cadeias de suprimentos, como o aumento no preço dos itens essenciais e dificuldades em obter certas matérias primas. Este trabalho visa analisar os artigos sobre Economia Circular e Logística Reversa que também abordem aspectos relacionados à inovação. Para o cumprimento de tal objetivo, realizou-se uma Revisão Sistemática de Literatura - RSL classificada como exploratória, descritiva e qualitativa. Uma amostra de 33 artigos foi selecionada para análise a partir de nove passos adotados no uso do Methodi Ordinatio. Os resultados indicaram que a maior parte se trata de pesquisa teórico-empírica qualitativa. Ademais, foram mapeados os principais autores da área bem como as instituições a que estão vinculados e as principais lacunas de pesquisa. A análise do conteúdo auxiliou na constatação de que inovação é de fato um tema transversal e mesmo que não vastamente abordado pelos autores das áreas de supply chain, considerados nessa RSL, não pode ser negligenciado. Por fim, apresenta-se uma agenda de pesquisas futuras que pode contribuir para pesquisadores e gestores que atuem nesse campo do conhecimento.

This study aims to identify the main barriers to fully implement the reverse logistics of e-waste in Brazil and prioritize them under a Multicriteria Decision Aid approach (MCDA) according to the perceptions of small and medium-sized companies, consumers, and the Brazilian government. Hence, the study was conducted in two steps: (i) Systematic literature review to identify the main barriers, with data collection carried out through a documental analysis, and (ii) MCDA application, through self-administered questionnaires. In order to deal with the uncertainty in subjective measures, the method of Composition of Probabilistic Preferences (CPP) was applied to analyze the results of each group of decision maker, opting for the progressive-pessimistic scenario to prioritize the barriers to be solved. As main results, a priority classification of the internal and external barriers considering each category of decision maker was obtained. Moreover, it was verified that the government and micro and small companies agreed that internal barriers with an organizational nature or related to infrastructure management are the main obstacles to the implementation of reverse logistics. On the other hand, consumers consider the managerial or organizational barriers as a priority.
