“…Although the condition is technically not a congenital pancreaticobiliary variant, a subset of Gardners patients develop not only pancreatic and peripancreatic neoplasm, but also relapsing pancreatitis. Our group reported eight such patients, all of whom had undergone prior colectomy, and four of whom had had a previous cholecystectomy [25]. The pancreatitis was related to ampullary adenomas in five of these patients, and was presumably related to pancreas divisum in one case; it was a consequence of bile duct stones in one case, and idiopathic in one case.…”
