Rectangular flake-like mesoporous NiCo2O4 as enzyme mimic for glucose biosensing and biofuel cell

Abstract: , respectively. The preeminent catalytic abilities may be attributed to the large specific surface area resulting from the mesoporous structure and the surpassing intrinsic catalytic activity of NiCo 2 O 4 itself. These significant findings may promote the development of the supersensitive detection of glucose and will undoubtedly widen the catalytic materials for biofuel cell electrodes.

“…10,29 Second, a synergetic effect from the combination of NiO and MnO 2 likely augmented the catalytic efficiency of the nano-akes, further promoting the oxidation of AA. 35 In contrast, it is evident from Fig. 6a that the needle electrode without the Ni 6 MnO 8 nanoakes in our experiment exhibits quite a low function for AA oxidation.…”

“…It is believed that multi-valence states of Ni and Co cations play an important role as oxidizing agents for glucose detection [17,42,43]. Thus, the reversible conversion of Ni 2+ /Ni 3+ and Co 2+ /Co 3+ in NCOs enables repetitive glucose detection [44][45][46]. The selectivity of NCOs is also an important factor for accurate glucose detection: current response to other reagents can detract from the determination of glucose [47][48][49].…”
