Recovery of Ultra-Fine Tungsten and Tin from Slimes Using Large-Scale SLon-2400 Centrifugal Separator

Abstract: China is very rich in tungsten and tin resources, but most of them are finely disseminated with gangues, and thus, fine grinding is required for effective separation, which results in the abundant production of ultra-fine tungsten and tin values into slimes and tailings. The SLon centrifugal separator is highly effective in recovering ultra-fine heavy particles, because it operates on the centrifugal acceleration of particles in the flowing film of a few millimeters thick. The recovery of ultra-fine tungsten m… Show more

“…Thus, the presence of low-magnetic and aluminosilicate iron-containing microspheres is confirmed, which agrees well with the results of earlier studies [22,48]. It is also worth noting that the sizes of extracted particles of valuable components with low values of magnetic susceptibility (less than 15 microns) are in good agreement with the work [49], in which the application of a high-gradient separator for sludge beneficiation is justified. The possibility of their extraction into the magnetic product using high-gradient magnetic separation is also proven.…”

“…In particular, centrifugal concentrators can provide considerable centrifugal force that is dozens of times that of gravity, allowing ultrafine mineral particles to be recovered from slimes and tailings. For example, Knelson concentrators, Falcon concentrators, and the SLon centrifugal concentrator have been effectively used to recover fine minerals such as gold, tungsten, native copper, and hematite [13][14][15]. In the early 1960s, China successfully developed the Yunxi-type centrifugal concentrator, which can selectively enrich fine heavy minerals, for separating fine-grained tin, tungsten, and hematite.…”

“…The equipment types of milk separators are diversified, including centrifugal separators and sedimentation separators. Different types of equipment have different working principles and separation effects, and appropriate equipment can be selected according to production requirements [5][6].…”
