Recovery of Tungsten in the Process of Preparation of Calcium Sulfate Whiskers from Scheelite Decomposed Residue

Abstract: When treating complex co–associated low–grade scheelite with sulfur and phosphorus mixed acid co–decomposition techniques, the deterioration in tungsten resource endowment can result in significantly lower decomposition rates, with tungsten content in the decomposition residue (gypsum residue) as high as 2%. In this paper, it is envisaged that by dissolving the gypsum residue in hydrochloric acid to separate it from insoluble tungsten and then regulating the supersaturation of calcium sulfate in the hydrochlor… Show more

“…In addition, it has excellent mechanical properties at high temperatures, which enable its usage in the production of materials with special properties including hard alloy, strong heat-resistant alloy, and abrasion-resistant alloy [1][2][3][4]. Therefore, its role in many fields, such as metallurgy, aerospace, military engineering, electronics, and mechanics, is irreplaceable [5][6][7][8]. According to data from USGS, the tungsten reserve across the globe is around 3.5 million tons, which shifted to 3.7 million tons in the year 2021.…”
