Recovery from surgery, with and without preparatory instruction, for three coping styles.

Abstract: A stress-reduction method (information giving) was chosen as a possible method to improve recovery from surgery for one personality type-sensitizers -who typically do seek, learn, and use information in their intellcctualizing defenses. An opposite-extreme group-avoiders-who seldom use intelleclualizing defenses, was expected to improve little; while an intermediate group -neutrals-was expected to improve an intermediate amount.
