“…The Indo-Pacific humpback dolphin (Sousa chinensis Osbeck, 1765), Irrawaddy dolphin (Orcaella brevirostris Owen in Gray, 1866), and Indo-Pacific finless porpoise (Neophocaena phocaenoides Cuvier, 1829) are among the three most common small coastal cetacean species found in Southeast Asia (Hines et al, 2015;Jutapruet, Intongcome, Wang, Kittiwattanawong, & Huang, 2017;Minton et al, 2013;Ponnampalam, 2012), and at the study site in Matang, Peninsular Malaysia (Kuit, Ponnampalam, Fairul Izmal, & Chong, 2014;Ponnampalam, 2013). The Indo-Pacific humpback dolphin (hereafter referred to as the humpback dolphin) is found in shallow coastal waters throughout China and Southeast Asia (Jefferson & Karczmarski, 2001;Jefferson, Smith, Braulik, & Perrin, 2017;Sutaria & Jefferson, 2004). The marine range of the Irrawaddy dolphin includes the nearshore and coastal waters of the Indo-Pacific region, stretching from north-eastern India to east Kalimantan in Southeast Asia (Smith, 2018).…”
