Reconfigurable Radio-Over-Fiber Networks [Invited]

Abstract: This paper discusses the advantages of reconfigurable radio-over-fiber (RoF) networks and presents key activities in coherent remote access units, silicon photonics for microwave photonics, optical switching, and photonically reconfigurable antennas. These research areas enable functionalities that improve the utilization, flexibility, and performance of RoF networks.
