Reconceptualization of the usefulness of a system as a multidimensional construct geared towards supporting tasks

Abstract: PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to develop a theory and provide empirical support for the re-conceptualization of usefulness as a multidimensional construct based on the technological roles of automation and computerization.Design/methodology/approachA non-experimental transverse design is followed. Data were gathered using a questionnaire. The participants were users of enterprise resource planning systems. The analysis technique used was the structural equation model.FindingsResults show that the propose… Show more

“…The DeLone & McLean (D&M) Information System Success Model is a framework and model for measuring complex-independent variables in information systems research, this model provides standardization for the process of comparative evaluation mechanisms in departments, systems, users, and organizations. This model includes six framework dimensions, namely system quality, information quality, service quality, user satisfaction, intention to use, and net benefits (Akram et al, 2017;Ardiaz, 2017;Bravo, 2020). Structural Equation Model (SEM) is one of the methods used in statistics to analyze problems through indicators and variables.…”

“…Based on the results of this article, administrators and managers could find and compare alternatives and strategies that might create greater added value in B2B. Bravo (2020) studies the role of usefulness in an information system. The author extends the literature by proposing and empirically evaluating a multidimensional formulation of the concept of usefulness of an information system, focussing on supporting the tasks of the work and clarifying to what extent the system would be useful for an organisation.…”
