Abstract: influenza is an acute infectious disease of the airways that occurs in every age group. the course of the disease may have a different severity and clinical picture, from asymptomatic to severe with symptoms of respiratory failure. the possibilities of pandemic infections and serious complications throughout the course of influenza distinguish it from other viral respiratory diseases, prompting us to treat it in a special way. “…the respiratory syncytial virus (rsV) belongs to the Paramyxoviridae family and is responsible for human respiratory tract infections all over the world. in adults and older children, rsV infection is clinically associated with upper respiratory symptoms, while in infants, rsV causes bronchiolitis and lower respiratory tract illness that can progresses to pneumonia [31].…”

“…interestingly, there is even data indicating that the first episode of asthma may be related to an rsV infection. in such cases, bearing in mind that rsV (and rV) infections may develop into pneumonia, respiratory disorders, apnea and, in rare cases, can lead to death, the testing for rsV infection is the decisive diagnostic element and enables the implementation of appropriate treatment [2,13,18,[31][32][33]. in the case of an infection caused by several viruses, no more severe course of the disease should be expected, since the co-infection with rsV, hrV and iV usually leads to a reduction in growth of the second virus [2,34,35].…”

“…These are the characteristic features of the early appeared clinical symptoms by which patients start thinking of COVID-19 infection [16,18]. Anosmia and ageusia are not restricted to COVID-19 patients only because they were reported with other respiratory viral diseases such as flu (influenza) infection (Orthomyxoviruses) as well as common cold as one of the clinical symptoms [19,20]. Anosmia might be developed as a result of zinc therapy [21,22].…”
