O material final apresentou boa estabilid… Show more

“…In these situations, it is common the undesirable formation of irregular (flattened and collapsed) polymer particles, indicating that the high proportion of unreacted monomer present in the polymer particle avoids the achievement of the particle identification point (PIP) (N.B. although the PIP depends on the reaction conditions, it usually corresponds to conversions in the range of 65 % to 80 %) [75,76], considered as a critical limit from which the shape of the polymer particles is not altered by the action of impeller shear rate (responsible for the particles breakage) and / or the particles coalescence [69,77,78].…”

“…The sequential mass-suspension polymerization reactions were performed in a borosilicate glass jacketed reactor, containing a 250 mL capacity, and equipped with a condenser coupled with cooling water (20 °C ≤ T ≤ 25 °C) and overhead mechanical stirrer RW 20 digital (IKA ® Works, Inc., São Paulo, Brazil) coupled to a helix-type impeller to ensure the proper agitation of the reaction mixture [27].…”

“…Before the sequential mass-suspension polymerization process, with a goal of increasing the compatibility between the natural (N.B. throughout the text, natural lignin is used to represent the lignin obtained by using a modified Kraft method) or esterified lignin and styrene, a conditioning stage was carried out; a previous contact between the constituents of the polymerization reaction was carried out for 12 h under vigorous stirring at room temperature [27].…”
