“…According to the bibliometric analysis, approximately 100 research papers published over the period of the past two decades that have been indexed in databases, including Elsevier, Springer, Wiley, Taylor and Francis, the Royal Chemical Society, and the American Chemical Society using the keywords “mollusk shell waste,” “extraction methods,” “chitin,” “chitosan,” and “biological activity.” The majority of research outcomes are from crustacean shell wastes, fungi‐ and insects‐derived chitin and chitosan.
