Ni-Cr-Si-B alloy deposition on 304 ASS is executed by making use of automated processes like PTA, laser cladding, etc., which are supportive in the mass production. However, for repairment and job-specific works, such processes become more expensive and hence cost-effective pulse-GMAW process is proposed. The effect of current on the coating characteristics is investigated. Microstructure reveals a eutectic structure near interface, which changes to a hypereutectic near the top surface. γ -Ni, carbides and borides phases are observed in coating, which increases hardness (529.3 HV 1.0 ) and wear resistance (20 times). The present study reveals an inverse relation of hardness and wear resistance with current due to increased iron content in coating at higher current which suppresses boride formation.

Friction Stir Welding, often known as FSW, is a progressive solid state welding process that can be used to combine materials that are similar to one another as well as those that are completely unlike. The motivation behind this exploration is to provide an in-depth evaluation of FSW, with an accentuation on its applications in aluminum alloy welding. The fundamental ideas of FSW, the devices and hardware expected for the interaction, the benefits and drawbacks of FSW, and the different angles that effect weld quality will be generally explored. This paper covers a review that was directed to upgrade input boundaries to expand the rigidity, miniature hardness, and electrical resistivity. The micro hardness dissemination was most elevated in the weld joint's base zone, with lower readings in the center locale and middle readings on the top surface.

Plasma transferred arc welding (PTAW) is one of the outstanding overlay coating technique used in numerous industries including pressure vessel, automotive, chemical, nuclear, etc. owing to its superior characteristics, low dilution and high efficiency in the coating. In the present investigations, an effort is made to investigate the multitrack overlay deposition by PTAW on 16 mm thick 316 L plate by CO-Cr alloy. Samples are produced under different processing conditions, as per full factorial central composite design of experiment with preheating of 200°C by maintaining the interpass temperature 250 °C. Effects of transferred arc current, welding travel speed, powder feed rate, welding oscillation speed and stand-off distance on weld bead shape parameters comprising of width of deposition and reinforcement are presented and discussed based on experimental observations and fitted model. Relationship between the input process parameters with deposition characteristics is also presented in the form of regression equation. Lower current (100–120 A), intermediate travel speed (120–140 mm/min), intermediate powder feed rate (12–14 gms/min), lower oscillating speed (450–550 mm/min) and lower stand-off distance (6–8 mm) would give better deposition characteristics with minimum distortion, less residual stresses, no surface defects with strong metallurgical bond.
