“…The recent advancement of nanomaterials and nanotechnology in the field of medical research has spurred a great interest in so‐called “nanomedicine” . This scientific area embraces a myriad of nanosystems whose diverse applications include monitoring techniques, early diagnostic, therapeutics, and new drug delivery and release protocols . Nanomaterials studied for nanomedicine include mesoporous silicates, polymers, proteins, drug complexes, liposomes and micelles, dendrimers, emulsions, nanocrystals, carbon nanoplatforms, and quantum dots …”

“…In these systems, medicines are formulated into multicomponent nanocomposites containing both APIs and various excipients acting as carriers. The interactions between the drug and the carrier are of great importance: they are the underlying factors that affect the releasing mechanisms, timing, route, and effectiveness of the treatment . In addition, both the API and excipients may undergo a variety of physical and/or chemical changes during production processes, such as granulation, grinding, milling, tablet compression, and drying .…”

“…Communications more about the structure,w hich can be linked to sometimes unusual in vitro observations. Solid-state NMR spectroscopy has previously been used to characterize drugs within various delivery systems, [9] but an analysis of the changes in the drug delivery system aresult of the drug itself has not been undertaken. In this study,1Dand 2D solid-state NMR spectroscopy yielded insight into the internal structure and dynamics of the micelles.Acomparison of the 13 CNMR spectra of Phen-Pt and freeze-dried HL micelles (Figure 4a-c) shows that upon conjugation the 13 CNMR signals for Phen-Pt are significantly broadened compared to the well-resolved 13 CNMR spectrum for the crystalline Phen-Pt.…”

“…This analytical superiority has recently increased the utilization of SS‐NMR in mechanistically understanding the structural features of a variety of complex drug delivery systems including ASD and in relating the same to the physical stability of the products . Very recently, Skorupska et al published a compilation of case studies reflecting the application of SS‐NMR for the characterization of a wide diversity of enabling drug delivery systems, namely, mesoporous silica‐based systems, polymeric dispersions, cyclodextrin complexes, and so on. This review covers different SS‐NMR methodologies with several case studies that provide readers with general insights on the utility of these techniques for the in‐depth elucidation of the phase structures and dynamics of ASD.…”
