Recent Progress in Optoelectronic Synapses for Artificial Visual‐Perception System

Abstract: The human visual system undertakes most of the information perceiving tasks, and nearly 80% of the perceived information is obtained via the visual system. The basic functions of the human visual system can be emulated by neuromorphic visual‐perception systems in the light region from UV to near‐IR. An optoelectronic synapse served as the basic unit of the neuromorphic visual‐perception system is required to combine photosensing function and synaptic element. In addition, optoelectronic synapses demonstrate th… Show more

“…This report used artificial organic synaptic devices to construct a bionic tactile perception system which will lead a research foundation for the further development of artificial sensory systems (olfactory system, visual system, tactile system, and auditory system) (as shown in Figure 10). [46,75,[213][214][215][216][217][218] In this review, recent advances in emerging FOSTs have been summarized, including the realization of flexibility in four classical types of FOSTs. Although the FOSTs have made significant progress in basic research and potential applications, they are still in their early stages.…”

“…A high-pass filter H(u, v) = 1 − exp(−f 2 ∕(2f 2 H )) was used based on the filtering characteristics of the synaptic devices. Here, f 2 = (u − m) 2 + (v − n) 2 . The cutoff frequency of our device was 6.9.…”

“…In optoelectronic semiconductor devices, the electrons and holes are generated due to electrons (holes) jumping from the valence (conduction) band to the conduction (valence) band in response to optical pulses [118][119][120][121][122]. The generated carriers could be captured by traps in the devices [123].…”
