Recent Progress in Fabrication and Application of BN Nanostructures and BN-Based Nanohybrids

Abstract: Due to its unique physical, chemical, and mechanical properties, such as a low specific density, large specific surface area, excellent thermal stability, oxidation resistance, low friction, good dispersion stability, enhanced adsorbing capacity, large interlayer shear force, and wide bandgap, hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) nanostructures are of great interest in many fields. These include, but are not limited to, (i) heterogeneous catalysts, (ii) promising nanocarriers for targeted drug delivery to tumor cell… Show more

“…Hexagonal boron nitride ( h -BN) nanomaterials are a promising support for various metallic (Au, Ag, Pt, etc.) nanoparticles (NPs) used in heterogeneous catalysis [ 1 ]. These nanohybrids have shown their efficiency in the reactions of light alkene dehydrogenation [ 2 ], methane partial oxidation [ 3 ] and dry reforming [ 4 ], hydrogen peroxide generation [ 5 ], styrene production [ 6 ], and many others [ 7 , 8 , 9 , 10 , 11 , 12 , 13 ].…”

“…BN nanoplates can retain their atomic structure up to 1150 K [ 7 ], undergoing oxidation at high temperatures with the formation of B 2 O 3 [ 8 ]. Therefore, h−BN sheets are potentially widely used in many applications, such as long-range ultraviolet light-emitting diodes, field emitters, and polymer matrix nanocomposites operating under extreme conditions [ 9 , 10 , 11 , 12 , 13 ].…”
