Recent events in South Africa

Abstract: Adelman looks at recent events in South Africa and at the seemingly intractable nature of the problems for the state, unable to restore stability either through repression or reform. He concludes that at the present time the state is on the defensive, and that the battle for South Africa will be increasingly bloody.
