Recent developments in use of heteropolyacids, their salts and polyoxometalates in organic synthesis

Abstract: Heteropolyacids, their salts and polyoxometalates have been used as catalysts in wide range of organic reactions such as multi components, oxidation, reductions, electrochemical and photochemical reactions. There have been tremendous and continued efforts to modify the catalytic performance of heteropoly acids such as supporting them on MCM, silica gel, etc. In this review, we have attempted to bring some of new applications of heteropolyacids in organic reactions and recent approaches on modifying them, into … Show more

“…Lately interest in the Wells-Dawson (WD) type HPA with [X 2 M 18 O 62 ] nÀ anions (where X = P, as and M = Mo, W) is growing exponentially (Anastas and Warner, 1998;Heravi et al, 2007;Heravi and Sadjadi, 2009;Shikata et al, 1995). Moreover, industry encourages the use of sustainable materials and water as a solvent, rather than toxic organic solvents.…”

“…They are used as homogeneous catalysts, heterogeneous catalysts, electro catalysts and photo catalysts for the synthesis of variety of organic compounds. [1][2][3][4][5][6] Heteropoly acids [HPV] were used in acid-catalysed reactions due to their strong Bronsted acidity. Clays form flat hexagonal sheets similar to the micas.…”

“…Polyoxometalates (POMs) have been extensively used in the preparation of Au nanoparticles reported in various reports [2][3][4][5]. The chemistry of POMs and their salts has been extensively reviewed [6,7]. They have been defined as a sub-class of inorganic metal oxide clusters, which possess fascinating structures and various properties [8].…”
