Recent Developments in Sensor Technologies for Enabling the Hydrogen Economy

Kannan Ramaiyan,
Lok-kun Tsui,
Eric L. Brosha
et al.

Abstract: Efforts to create a sustainable hydrogen economy are gaining momentum as governments all over the world are investing in hydrogen production, storage, distribution, and delivery technologies to develop a hydrogen infrastructure. This involves transporting hydrogen in gaseous or liquid form or using carrier gases such as methane, ammonia, or mixtures of methane and hydrogen. Hydrogen is a colorless, odorless gas and can easily leak into the atmosphere leading to economic loss and safety concerns. Therefore, dep… Show more

“…The diagram shows the effectiveness of Vanderwall's 50% scheme for weak interactions and the dotted representation for directional output and set of orientations with aura with axis bounded box depth lines of MOH crystals shows the bounded box representation with 1 Å width to specify aura methodology for grouping of atoms in the molecules. 62 The XRD parameters are compared for selective parameters by theory and practice both ways [71][72][73][74][75][76][77][78][79][80] as in Table II and are well matched.…”

“…The study highlighted the role of historical data in predicting pipe deterioration, pointing towards future directions involving advanced technologies like ML and the Internet of Things (IoT) for improved pipeline safety. Additionally, Ramaiyan et al [14] provided a comprehensive overview of recent developments in hydrogen sensor technology, emphasizing its crucial role in establishing a sustainable hydrogen economy. With a focus on applications such as leak detection and process monitoring throughout the supply chain, this review highlighted the significance of informed sensor selection for the effective implementation of H 2 energy solutions.…”

“…Highly sensitive detection of hydrogen is essential to ensure the safety of hydrogen use, production, storage, and transportation. Among many hydrogen techniques, potentiometric hydrogen sensors have attracted tremendous attention due to their simple structure, small size, robustness, and high-temperature resistance. , This type of sensor generally consists of a sensing electrode (SE), a reference electrode (RE), and a solid electrolyte. The sensor response is the difference between responses of the SE and RE .…”
