Recent developments in detection and therapeutic approaches for antibiotic-resistant bacterial infections

Abstract: Owing to the widespread emergence and proliferation of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, the therapeutic benefits of antibiotics have been reduced. In addition, the ongoing evolution of multidrug-resistant pathogens poses a challenge for the scientific community to develop sensitive analytical methods and innovative antimicrobial agents for the detection and treatment of drug-resistant bacterial infections. In this review, we have described the antibiotic resistance mechanisms that occur in bacteria and summarize… Show more

“…Moreover, the influence of silver nanomaterials on bacterial cells and the production of ROS in bacterial cells were also examined. The experimental finding revealed that HCE-AgNPs induce oxidative stress by damaging the cell wall, ultimately resulting in cell death [24,51]. Additionally, ATP, which is involved in the metabolism of cellular energy, was reduced due to the remarkable inhibition by the AgNPs, causing bacterial apoptosis.…”

“…Most developed drug candidates fail the clinical stages due to their substandard pharmacokinetic properties, and the introduction of a new treatment to the market normally takes 10 to 15 years and a substantial expenditure. Therefore, it is imperative to construct fresh, cutting-edge methods for creating new medications, especially antibiotics [15]. Antimicrobial actions and selectivity with target sites have been enhanced through the use of technology like computational methods like in silico and Fragment-based drug design FBDD [16].…”
