Objective: The study was designed as formulation, standardization, and evaluation of polyherbal dispersible tablet prepared for the management of kidney disorders. To overcome the problem of dyspepsia in geriatric patients by the use of polyherbal dispersible tablets.Methods: Dispersible tablets were prepared using aqueous root extract powder of the selected plant viz. A. officinalis, B. diffusa, C. papaya, C. fistula, C. intybus, F. hispida, F. indica, C. nurvala, S. virgaurea, and V. negundo with the help of superdisintegrant addition technique using crospovidone, sodium starch glycolate and croscarmellose sodium in different percentage. Evaluation assessments such as the substantial test, weight variation, hardness, friability, content uniformity, disintegration, in vitro dispersion, stability study and IR compatibility were carried out.Results: Micromeritics of extracts powder were determined for all formulation, which signifying good flow properties. The substantial examination was established, which comply with official requirements for uniformity test, and the drug content was close to 100% in all formulations. Disintegration time was observed for all formulation in which the polyherbal formulation-3 (PHF-3) showing 1.10±0.10 min; during in vitro dispersion time, all formulation showed appropriate dispersion in which the PHF-3 captivating 2.00±0.45 min only. The IR compatibility shows none chemical interaction between the extracts and excipients.Conclusion: The PHF-3 showed satisfactory disintegration and in vitro dispersion time due to crospovidone and reported as the best formulation. The stability study and IR compatibility validate the PHF may represent new easily swallow dispersible tablet that may enhance drug permeability and advance bioavailability for nephrotic patients.

Objective: Boswellic acids extracted from the gum resin of plant Boswellia serrata are well reported for anti-inflammatory and anticancer activities. The Present investigation was aimed to optimize the surfactant concentration by formulating a series of Boswellic acids nanoparticles. Methods: Nanoparticles were prepared by nanoprecipitation technique using diverse ratios of non-ionic surfactants (Polyvinyl alcohol and Pluronic F-127). Effect of surfactant concentration was studied on size, polydispersity index, zeta potential, entrapment efficiency and loading capacity of nanoparticles. Transmission Electron microscopy was used to examine the effect of surfactant type on surface morphology of developed nanoparticles. In vitro cytotoxicity was evaluated by 3-(4, 5-dimethylthiazol-2yl)-2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay against colon cancer cells lines (HCT-116). Results: Smallest particle size and polydispersity index (189.2 nm, 0.27), high entrapment (49.53±0.5) and loading capacity (23.64±0.43) with spherical shape was obtained in Pluronic F-127 nanoparticles in comparison to Polyvinyl alcohol nanoparticles. Pluronic F-127 nanoparticles showed higher cytotoxicity against colon cancer cell lines with IC 50 value 21.3 µM having significant cytotoxic effects in comparison with Polyvinyl alcohol (IC 50 value 23.2 µM) nanoparticles and Boswellia serrata extract (IC 50 value 30.8 µM). Conclusion: It is concluded that the choice of surfactant is a critical parameter in the formulation of nanoparticles.

This study demonstrates the significant potential of the Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) sampling methods: cantilever-enhanced Fourier transform infrared photoacoustic spectroscopy (FTIR PAS) and diffuse reflectance infrared spectroscopy (FTIR DRIFT) in the field of herbal medicines (HM). In the present work we investigated DRIFT and PAS sampling methods because they do not require sample preparation, samples may be opaque or dark, require small amounts, both liquid and solid samples can be measured, and solid samples can be analyzed on a small scale. Experiments conducted prove high sensitivity, reproducibility and capability in combination with an unsupervised multivariate analysis technique to discriminate important characteristics of HM, such as the identification of plant parts, differentiation of samples by types, and determination of the concentration of extractable compounds in HM.
