Recent Advances in Touch Sensors for Flexible Wearable Devices

Abstract: Many modern user interfaces are based on touch, and such sensors are widely used in displays, Internet of Things (IoT) projects, and robotics. From lamps to touchscreens of smartphones, these user interfaces can be found in an array of applications. However, traditional touch sensors are bulky, complicated, inflexible, and difficult-to-wear devices made of stiff materials. The touch screen is gaining further importance with the trend of current IoT technology flexibly and comfortably used on the skin or clothi… Show more

“…In formula (1), x refers to the network communication rate; y is the average delay; h refers to the working state of IP core; i refers to the wireless network communication IP interface signal. Through formula (1), in the process of data transmission, after identifying different wireless network communication IP interface signals, the data is combined with each other.…”

“…In this kind of equipment, the hydraulic oil is transmitted to the actuator in the equipment with high pressure through the hydraulic pump. The hydraulic pump is driven by the engine or electric motor, through the operation of various hydraulic control valves to control the hydraulic oil to obtain the required pressure or flow, the hydraulic components are connected through the hydraulic pipeline [1,2]. In the work of hydraulic machinery, the calendering process is the key factor to determine the material forming.…”

“…Despite their high precision, flexibility, and toughness, the development of polymer-based microfluidics layers requires the use of non-biodegradable polymer supporting substrates and expensive fabrication infrastructure, as they are heavily reliant on clean room-based fabrication techniques. Polymer properties, however, can be harnessed to expand their use in wearable sensors such as liquid crystal polymer, stimulus response polymer gels, and piezoelectric polymers [ 116 ]. An emerging alternative to polymers is paper which has proven to be intrinsically sustainable, breathable, flexible, biocompatible, and biodegradable with potential for commercial translation.…”

“…The rapid developments in electronic monitoring devices, especially those with medical purpose, require the development of advanced materials acting as an interface between the electronic device and the human body [ 1 ]. Among these, flexible and wearable materials that are capable of translating human motion in electrical signal changes could be of valuable importance in development of corrective motion therapies, monitoring of the recovery of trauma patients, development of interactive prosthetics, but also in novel motion biometrics for enhanced security and identification [ 2 , 3 ]. The ideal candidates for such applications are flexible elastomeric materials, which have conductive properties and could generate a response to mechanical stress.…”
