“…Natural polymers, or polymers derived from biomaterials, have gained increasing attention for wastewater treatment. Chitosan, starch, cellulose, alginate, and amylopectin are the main natural polymer choices due to their widespread availability, low price, nontoxicity, and biodegradability . This section reviews advances in the synthesis of functionalized natural polymers to treat various types of wastewater.…”

“…There had been recent interest in modifying biomaterials such as starch, chitosan, and cellulose to develop environmentally friendly flocculants and dispersants, and few studies have focused on clay mineral suspensions or mineral unit operations such as flotation, as was discussed earlier . Hasan and Fatehi assessed two kraft lignin‐acrylamides with different molecular weights and observed that more quantities of polymer were adsorbed on kaolinite than on bentonite surfaces.…”

“…Various types of grafting methods have been discovered such as conventional redox grafting using chemical 10,11 , γ-ray irradiation 12 , ultraviolet (UV) light irradiation 13 , microwave irradiation 11 and by using electron beam 14 . Among these methods, microwave irradiation is the simplest and most promising method to synthesize high-quality of grafted polymer.…”
