Recent Advances in Centrifugal Spinning and Their Applications in Tissue Engineering

Abstract: Over the last decade, researchers have investigated the potential of nano and microfiber scaffolds to promote wound healing, tissue regeneration, and skin protection. The centrifugal spinning technique is favored over others due to its relatively straightforward mechanism for producing large quantities of fiber. Many polymeric materials have yet to be investigated in search of those with multifunctional properties that would make them attractive in tissue applications. This literature presents the fundamental … Show more

“…These scaffolds are very porous and can offer optimal conditions for cell migration and proliferation in addition to favorable conditions for cell adhesion. The nanofiber scaffolds has been developed by electrospinning, 142,143 blow spinning, 144,145 centrifugal spinning 146 or combination of multiple techniques 147,148 based upon the requirements. Nanofibers reduce the inflammatory response and enhance macrophage transformation into M2 type.…”

“…This methodology provides an easily implementable solution for using commercially available electrocatalysts, resulting in reduced processing time and overall cost for green hydrogen production. [36][37][38] High-speed rotating orifices are used to pass viscous polymer solutions or melts. High centrifugal pressures during rotation allow the polymer to overcome its natural surface tension and viscosity leading to the generation of fibers.…”
