“…Yield: 342 mg, 96%. 1 All manipulations were performed under aerobic conditions for the synthesis of all these complexes. Co(ClO 4 ) 2 Á6H 2 O (91 mg, 0.25 mmol) and the Schiff base ligand H 2 L (89 mg, 0.25 mmol) were combined in 20 mL of MeOH/MeCN (1 : 1, v/v) with stirring.…”

“…Metal complexes with N,O-donor Schiff bases have been extensively studied because of their synthetic simplicity and tremendous structural diversities as well as their wide range of applications including catalysis. [1][2][3][4] Salen-type N 2 O 2 -donor tetradentate Schiff bases are the most common among all types of Schiff bases that may form complexes with a variety of metal ions by the removal of two protons. As large numbers of chiral and achiral diamines and salicylaldehyde derivatives are commercially or synthetically available, a wide variety of metal complexes with salen-type Schiff base ligands have been developed at will.…”

“…The reactant solutions were then refluxed for 6 h. Then, the mixture was allowed to cool to ambient temperature, and the solid that precipitated was removed by filtering, extensively washed with ethanol, and dried under reduced pressure to produce 4-((E)- FTIR chart of compounds S1 and S2 displayed a broad peak at 3500 cm −1 attributed to the hydroxyl group, 29 and two bands at 2920 cm −1 and 2850 cm −1 assigned to CH asymmetric and symmetric stretching vibration, 30 as well as the band at 1600 cm −1 , corresponding to −CN− (azomethine group), the appearance of this band in the FTIR chart donated good evidence to the formation of the Schiff base group, and this result was confirmed by the disappearance of the band at 1700 cm −1 for the carbonyl group of the start compound. 31…”

“…31 Therefore, recently, there has been a paradigm shift towards developing 3d metal-based antibacterial complexes. 32 For example, several complexes of Ni(II), Zn(II), Co(II), etc., have been reported to display antimicrobial activity upon light exposure. [33][34][35] Cobalt, a bio-essential element, has drawn high interest in the medicinal inorganic chemistry community to develop medications.…”
