“…The 3.1% perioperative mortality rate in this series is extremely favorable compared with contemporary reports. [16][17][18][19][20] Both mortalities occurred in patients presenting with acute type A dissection with malperfusion syndromes, well recognized to have a high in-hospital mortality rate. 21 In addition, the 1 permanent and 2 temporary cerebral morbidities are a strong testimony to the safety of this technique of cerebral protection.…”

“…12) Some recent studies report the use of LITA-LAD with a good patency rate in this setting. 6,13) We also performed LITA-LAD, and the rest of the anastomosis was often used as an SV graft to improve convenience and reduce the surgical time. Our results showed that LITA-LAD had been used in all cases.…”

“…After this challenging TEVAR, the aneurysm enlarged in 6 patients (16.2%) within 20 months. For the time being we will not expand beyond current indications of fenestrated TEVAR for challenging aortic arch aneurysms in patients whose logistic European system for cardiac operative risk evaluation-predicted risk of mortality was less than 10%, because clinical results of open repair for aortic arch aneurysms in the high-volume center have been promising [15][16][17].…”
