Recent Advanced Technologies in the Processing of Hybrid Reinforced Polymers for Applications of Membranes

Abstract: This review presents a comprehensive introduction to recent advances in the field of blends of the natural and synthetic polymers as new material for biodegradable membranes. These materials and several blends have attracted industrial attention because they exhibit improvements in properties which are required in membrane technology. In the current review, the structure, preparation coating method and properties of the blends of natural and man-made polymer are discussed. We focus on the applications of blend… Show more

“…Polyacrylonitrile falls among the list of very important polymeric materials because of its easy fiber formation by electrospinning with unique mechanical, thermal stability, and good solvent resistance properties . Biodegradability property of some polymers can be improved by reacting them with other biodegradable materials . The synthesis and characterization of biodegradable composites of polyacrylonitrile have been reported for various applications and can form composites with other materials including the extract from various parts of plants. Polyacrylonitrile has also been used as good anode materials for LIBs, electrodes for coin cell supercapacitors, as biocatalytic O 2 reduction, degradation of rhodamine, and wound dressing …”

“…Organic membranes, like polytetrafuoroethylene, polystyrene and Polyamide and others that form macromolecules, are used for the majority of commodities and industry [41]. In order to achieve increased properties, enhanced film strength and cost effective maintenance of the conventional scale-up protocols, use these synthetic polymers to prepare blends for use as membranes [42,43]. Inorganic synthetic membranes, even so, seem to be hugely reliant on the mechanism of charge exclusion to promote electrical refusal and mass transport.…”

“…Therefore, engineers and scientists have been constantly trying to maximise the efficiency of the usage of water by developing water treatment techniques. Filtration of water by using membranes is one of the most recently developed water treatment techniques [ 1 , 2 , 3 ]. On one hand, filtration with a membrane is an efficient technique to treat water; on the other hand, it is quite expensive.…”
