Abstract:Previous studies have suggested that physical exercise may have an effect on the turnover of the endothelial compartment. Following a maximal exercise testing (Bruce protocol), a prompt and significant increase in the number of circulating endothelial cells (CECs) was detected (D 1 50% vs. basal; P 5 0.0001) in 12 healthy volunteers, without significant changes in the marker of myocardial ischemia; the frequency of CECs correlated significantly with systolic blood pressure (SBP) and rate-pressure product at pe… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
