Realistic Simulation of Rice Panicle

Abstract: In this paper, we propose an algorithm for visually modeling rice panicle, which is based on the bending deformation model in mechanics of material. We firstly studied the morphologic structure of rice panicle, and then used an improved model of bending deformation to describe the curving morphology of panicle structure. The rachises and the curving morphology of various panicle branches were simulated based on the distribution of gravity. Finally, the overall bending morphology of rice panicle was simulated o… Show more

“…Along with the development of information technology in Agriculture and computer graphics, the computer simulation of plant growth and development process has been achieved [1][2][3][4][5][6] . Through visualization techniques, the collected data can be inputted into the computer and then be displayed graphically in the computer screen, which helps researchers work effectively and analyze the plant growth easily [1][2][3] . Therefore, Virtual plant and its correlated techniques have become the hotspot in field of agricultural science and image processing.…”
