PurposeThis study aims to investigate the relationship between employee polychronicity and employee creativity. This study also explores the mediating role of employee resilience in the relationship between employee polychronicity and employee creativity.Design/methodology/approachThis study was based on a quantitative research design, and a survey instrument was used to collect data from doctors and nurses. Ordinary least squares (OLS) regression and four-step Baron and Kenney (1986) approaches were used to check the impact of nurses’ polychronicity on creativity through resilience.FindingsResults proved that employee polychronicity positively influences employee creativity. The finding indicates that employee resilience acts as a mediator in the relationship between employee polychronicity and employee creativity.Originality/valueThe worth of this study rests on the deeper understanding of the employee polychronicity–employee creativity link in the health-care sector. Moreover, by bringing to the fore employee resilience as a mediator of the polychronicity–creativity relationship, this study provided a new vantage point to explore the intricacies concerned with the relationships between polychronicity, resilience and creativity.

Can creativity be taught? Multiple sources attest that the business community values creativity in potential new hires, but a signature pedagogy of teaching for creativity in business classes has not yet emerged. To contribute to a body of evidence-based practice, this study assessed the impact of several in-class activities that were deployed among undergraduate business students to see if these enhanced their creative problem-solving abilities, as assessed by pre- and post-intervention measures. The results were moderately encouraging and suggest domain-specific teaching and learning strategies. Further, the results offer encouragement to all instructors, irrespective of any prior experience with creativity-enhancing efforts.

Este estudio analiza la percepción de 4456 estudiantes de bachillerato del estado de Chihuahua (México), en relación al gusto (entendido como el interés personal) y disposición (el deseo de continuar participando) hacia la innovación científico-tecnológica. El objetivo del estudio es determinar la factibilidad de generar ambientes de formación académica extracurricular (clubes de ciencias). Mediante una encuesta, se recolectaron datos que permitieron identificar en los sujetos de estudio los siguientes momentos: 1) experiencias previas de aplicación científica y de autoconcepto sobre creatividad y personas creativas; 2) intereses actuales en la innovación científico-tecnológica; 3) conocimientos y habilidades; y 4) disposición de participación activa en ambientes científicos. Los resultados muestran que, al ser analizados los cuatro momentos como un método, sólo poblaciones menores indican constancia en gusto y disposición a involucrarse en eventos académicos relacionados con la innovación.
