Real-time person counting by propagating networks flows

Abstract: In this paper we present a system that tracks multiple persons by detection in real-time. We introduce a measure for similarity of detections which segments significant information from background clutter by using statistical information obtained during the learning phase of the detector. In order to track multiple persons we map the detections into flow networks utilizing this measure. A continuous realtime processing of video streams is accomplished by analyzing only small chunks of detections consecutively … Show more

“…[3][4][5][6] have focused on the common crisis of tracking, without particularly addressing the challenges of a multiple objects. Traditional tracking methods classically assume a static background or easily discernible moving objects, and, as a result, are limited to scenes with relatively few constituents 9,10 .…”

“…Even though many research topics are available in video surveillance, tracking and behavior analysis from the crowded video are challenging problem because it has a number of applications including eventmonitoring, behavior modeling, traffic control and security applications [1][2][3][4]. In dense crowds, tracking and behavior detection is a major problem [5,6] because the large number of object is in close which makes it difficult to establish correspondences across frames.…”
