Manual attendance recording throws away a lot of teaching and administration time from the university. Research on automatic attendance recording that has been done can be divided into biometrics and non-biometrics uses. Almost all methods require additional device that it is costly and inflexible for class changes. The proposed method solves the problems by utilizing the standard features of smartphones that are owned by all student, this method uses Wi-Fi direct for class broadcasting process and temporary Wi-Fi hotspot for verification process. The experimental results show that the proposed method produces the time needed for the initialization process is 14980 ms and the verification process is 3640 ms.

Checking attendance in a classroom is a factor contributing to the final performance of the students in the course. For both students and professors, attendance checking by name is very time-consuming and, in particular, the latter is very susceptible to simple attendance fraud. The study used a Face Recognition based attendance method using the YOLOv3 approach as an alternative. The system, based on face-detection and face-recognition algorithms, automatically recognizes, and marks attendance by recognizing the student. The experimental result shows that by using the trained model with a training accuracy of 98.01%, the proposed attendance system achieved 94% face recognition efficiency.

Dünyada hızla gelişen dijitalleşme sürecinin yaşandığı bölgelerden birisi de dijital kampüs uygulamaları ile gündeme gelen üniversitelerdir. Güvenlik, enerji yönetimi, kişisel konfor gibi uygulamaların yanı sıra öğrenci yoklamalarının da geliştirilen çeşitli teknikler ile dijital olarak alındığı birçok uygulama ile karşılaşılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada önemli biyometrik verilerden olan parmak izi okumaya dayalı taşınabilir özellikli bir öğrenci yoklama sistemi önerilmiştir. Yoklama sistemi bir adet modül ve arayüz yazılımından oluşmaktadır. Yazılımı kullanan öğretim görevlisi, yoklama bilgilerini güvenli bir şekilde veri tabanında saklayabilmektedir. Arduino tabanlı geliştirilen modülün arayüz yazılımı Python dili ile yazılmıştır. Ders esnasında klasik yoklama kağıdı yerine geliştirilen modül sayesinde hızlı bir şekilde yoklama alınması sağlanmıştır. Geliştirilen parmak izi okumaya dayalı taşınabilir özellikli sistemin, akıllı telefon, internet ve elektrik kaynağına ihtiyacı yoktur. Bu bakımdan, literatürdeki geleneksel olmayan yoklama sitemlerinden ayrılmaktadır. Geliştirilen modül ve yazılımının dijital kampüs uygulamalarına entegre edilebileceği düşünülmektedir.
