Real-Time Control of an IPMSM Using Model Order Reduction

Abstract: In the control of electric drives, inaccurate estimation of the motor parameters affects the robustness of the control. This effect is observed particularly when the linear lumped parameter-based models are employed to represent a machine composed of nonlinear magnetic materials. Finite element (FE) models consider the material nonlinearity accurately. However, implementing these models in a real-time system is challenging due to the computational burden. In this paper, we propose a fastdynamic model, based on… Show more

“…The tooth tip saturation and flux fringing effects can be simulated by reducing the height of stator and rotor slot openings however are neglected here. The development of the PSH2 component due to unbalanced supply is shown in Figure (12). For better understanding, the supply voltage in simulation is made the same as measured from the practical setup.…”

“…The rotor can be divided into "n" number of segments in the axial direction, and the inductances of all segments can be calculated separately. Since all segments are serially attached, the final inductance vector will be equal to the sum of all individual segment vectors, as shown by (11) and (12).…”

“…POD is not the only technique being applied in the context of electric machines. In [29] the ROM of a PMSM is developed considering its application to refined real-time control of the machine, which is accomplished through the orthogonal interpolation method (OIM). An advantage of this method is its capability to evaluate input values up to 20% beyond the upper and lower range with acceptable precision.…”

“…Many scholars use the lumped parameter method to model electromechanical transmission systems [5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12]. Jin, HY [5] established the mathematical model of a permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM) with uncertainties, that is, a second-order complementary sliding mode control (SOCSMC) with fast convergence and global robustness, to conquer the uncertainties and reduce chattering.…”
