“…Meanwhile, a cutoff of ≥5 cells/7.5 mL blood is more frequently used in other cancer types 36,37 . In the present study, we have tested multiple cutoff values of CTC counts, and three cutoffs (≥1.0 38,39 , ≥5.0 39 , ≥20.0 40 cells/mL blood) with reported clinical significance in the literature were found to be significant in the association with clinicopathological characteristics (Table 2 and Fig. S1).…”

“…Heat treatment after silanization is another important parameter to consider since it affects the covalent bond forming between APTES molecule and the surface. Two heat treatment temperatures (70 °C [ 4 ] and 130 °C [ 27 ]) were tested for HT after electrodeposition ( Figure 6 A,B) taken as the lowest and the highest reported in the literature. As a result, it was observed that at 130 °C, a more uniform layer was formed, while for 70 °C, some larger particles (up to 4.5 nm) were seen.…”

“…Stainless steel (SS) is commonly used in biomedical devices and applications because of its biocompatibility and mechanical properties [ 1 , 2 ]. Recent applications of SS include functionalized guidewire for the capture of cells [ 3 ], biosensing [ 4 ] and sorptive extraction of contaminants [ 5 ]. All of these applications require chemical modification of the surface.…”

“…Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) [ 6 ] and carbohydrate antigen 19–9 (CA 19–9) [ 9 ] are the two most-used cancer antigens for monitoring colon cancer [ 10 ]. Circulating tumor cells originate from the primary or metastatic sites of colon cancer, and can directly reveal the status of the disease, however, the number of circulating tumor cells is very low [ 11 ]. DNA and RNA-based molecular method is more sensitive and useful than circulating tumor cells for the investigation of molecular heterogeneity and clonal divergence of colon cancer; but those molecular markers are still not utilized in clinic.…”
