Real-time assessment of the Ganga river during pandemic COVID-19 and predictive data modeling by machine learning

Abstract: In this study, four water quality parameters were reviewed at 14 stations of river Ganga in pre-, during and post-lockdown and these parameters were modeled by using different machine learning algorithms. Various mathematical models were used for the computation of water quality parameters in pre-, during and post- lockdown period by using Central Pollution Control Board real-time data. Lockdown resulted in the reduction of Biochemical Oxygen Demand ranging from 55 to 92% with increased concentration of dissol… Show more

“…The Ganga River Basin, stretching over a remarkable distance of approximately 2,525 kilometers from Gaumukh to Ganga Sagar, is the focal point for our comprehensive research on antibiotic resistance . The catchment area of the Ganga River System is about 861,404 square kilometers, covering parts of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh states (Santy et al, 2020; Singh et al, 2022). Approximately 43% of India’s population lives in the Ganga basin, which covers 26.3% of the country’s total geographical area.…”
