Real-Time Analysis of Laser-Induced Plasmon Tuning in Nanoporous Glass Composite

Abstract: Laser-induced structuring in nanoporous glass composites is promising for numerous emerging applications in photonics and plasmonics. Local laser irradiation activates an interplay of photo-thermo-chemical mechanisms that are extremely difficult to control. The choice of optimum laser parameters to fabricate structures with desired properties remains extremely challenging. Another challenging issue is the investigation of the properties of laser-induced buried structures. In this paper, we propose a way to con… Show more

“…For the experiment, mesoporous thin films are firstly preparation by using either sol-gel or a complex and multistage procedure, and the obtained films are impregnated with silver ions by soaking in salts as described elsewere 6,7,8 . As a result, SiO2 and TiO2 matrices with embedded small (around 3 nm) Ag nanoclusters were obtained.…”

“…Thus, the volume fraction was calculated by using the following equations where rat is an atomic radius of metal, Ca is the atoms size distribution, Cp is the initial nanoparticles size distribution, and Kc is the normalizing constant. Equations ( 4) - (6) show that the initial size distribution of nanoparticles, Cp, affects the volume fraction of the metal phase. Diffusional growth of nanoparticles was simulated by using the following equation…”

“…To date, only pre-surface waveguides have been fabricated in solid glasses [18,19] to estimate fluid properties, e.g., refractive index, deposited on the glass surface. LDW in PG was also utilized for various needs: multilevel data writing [20], plasmonic properties tuning [21], and micro-cavities formation [22]. Previously, our team proposed and investigated the femtosecond laser-induced PG densification mechanism [23], which can be easily adopted for BWGs inscription.…”

“…In the past two decades, there has been a growing interest in the development of H 2 O 2 electrochemical biosensors based on the enzymatic activity of peptide-nanostructure-modified electrodes [ 11 ]. The utilization of nanoparticles (such as Au, Ag, Cu, and Fe) for the creation of nanostructures has received much attention because of their unique morphology, grain size, and physical, electrical, and magnetic properties that make them suitable for application in the fields of drug delivery [ 12 ], optoelectronics [ 13 ], energy storage elements [ 14 ], and microfluidics [ 15 ]. Many efforts have been made to synthesize materials characterized by structural, compositional, and morphological uniformity, with a high surface to volume ratio allowing their application in various emerging fields [ 16 ].…”
