Reactive orange 12 dye adsorption onto magnetically separable CaFe2O4 nanoparticles synthesized by simple chemical route: kinetic, isotherm and neural network modeling

Abstract: Industrial wastewaters laden with toxic dyes are required to be treated prior to their disposal in view of their adverse effect on human health and aquatic ecosystem. Thus in this research, CaFe2O4 nanoparticles were prepared and used as adsorbent for elimination of reactive orange 12 dye (RO12) from aqueous medium. The CaFe2O4 nanoparticles exhibit specific surface area of ∼230 m2/g and average pore diameter of ∼2.5 nm. Maximum RO12 removal of 77% was observed at solution pH 2.0 with uptake capacity of 276.92… Show more

“…Te primary advantage of the ANN tool is its ability to provide precise modelling for nonlinear models with numerous inputs. Furthermore, ANN tools are widely used because of their ability to deal with inconsistent and unreliable data, as well as their fault tolerance and sturdiness [37,38]. Tey comprise a large number of basic handling units which are wired together in a complex communication network.…”

“…Unfortunately, the applied techniques suffer from the cost issue, sludge production, and the removal efficiency is tolerant to pollutants concentrations (Babaei et al, 2015). In this context, adsorption is an attractive technology for wastewater treatment due to its simplicity of design and ease of operation (Das & Debnath, 2021). One of the most well‐known adsorbent materials is activated carbon (Saleh, Yalvaç, & Arslan, 2019).…”

“…However, this method still cannot overcome the challenge in terms of the high cost due to the employment of a large amount of oxidants such as H 2 O 2 , oxygen, organic peroxides, ferrate, Fentonʼs reagent, and ozone, etc 9–16 . Adsorption method has potential application prospects for the removal of organic pollutants 17–21 . Compared with traditional adsorption materials (e.g.…”
