Reactive compensator synthesis in time-domain

Abstract: Abstract. The source reactive-current compensation is crucial in the energy transmission efficiency. The compensator design in a frequencydomain has already been widely discussed and examined. This paper presents results of a study on how to design reactive compensators in a time-domain. It is the first time the reactive compensator has been designed in a time domain. The example of a compensator is presented.

“…• LD -a load of power supply, connected to its DC output circuit. As a result of the compensation process, the total current drawn from the power grid node (i L ) should have both a suitable shape and a phase relation with the voltage in the power grid -depending on the compensation strategy [2][3][4][5][6]. In the case of this work, the power theory introduced by Fryze [6], was chosen for control of the compensation function of the device.…”

“…In addition to the technical context, the impact of nonlinear loads should be considered in terms of purely economic and even social aspects, such as health [6]. Therefore, various types of "compensators", mainly passive [7,8] and active filters, including shunt and serial ones [9][10][11][12][13][14], are used in electrical systems as preventive measures. The main task of these devices is the appropriate matching of the shape of the current at its input to the shape of the current drawn from the same power grid node by other loads.…”

“…As a result of the compensation process, understood in this way, the total current drawn from the power grid node should have both a suitable shape and phase relation with a voltage in the power grid -depending on a compensation strategy, e.g. [4][5][6][7]. A main disadvantage of these devices is related to the fact that they have only one specialized function in the power system.…”
