Reactions of Recoil Halogens in Binary Organic Liquids

Abstract

Hot-atom chemistry /Recoil chlorine and bromine/Two stage mechanismAbstract Data from the recoil reactions of 3 'CI and *°mBr in the binary mixtures of (a) o-chlorotoluene with alcohols and aniline and (b) bromobenzene with alcohols and aniline are analysed using the model proposed by URCH. The organic yield in these systems arises from both hot and thermal processes. The unknown parameters consisting of the organic yields in the two stages ( Kg and Kg) and the respective relative reactivities of the recoil halogen towards the two components (S and S' ) are determined by a computer technique. In case of o-chlorotoluene and alcohol mixtures, more reactive component A is, more restricted is the first stage reaction.
