“…In addition, the resulting products of the C–S cleavage reaction are aldehydes and ketones, which are very important synthetic key compounds in organic reactions . Herein, we report a novel method for the oxidative C–S bond cleavage reaction using visible-light-mediated Ag­(II)–ligand complexes under mild reaction conditions (Scheme C). , Significantly, organic reactions using Ag­(II)–ligand complexes as catalysts have been rarely reported even though the synthesis of silver complexes has been well-established in inorganic chemistry. Our studies show that Ag­(II) complexes catalyze the oxidative C–S bond cleavage of benzyl thiols to afford the desired carbonyl compounds selectively.…”
