“…The complete reduction of gold was proven by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) that showed a good match with the metal reference, without evidence of Au + species, while the peaks appear slightly larger due to the nanosized nature of the UAuNPs (Supporting Information, Figure S5). XPS also confirms the presence of S coordinated with Au species, as attested by the position of S 2p (162.5 eV) [32] and the C-C and C-O species are attributable to the functionalization of the UAuNP 10.1002/anie.202210140…”

“…This indicates that the XRD features at 26.8°and 44.4°(2θ) (see Figure 4b(VI)) arise from Cu 2 S and not Li 2 S. No S 8 signals were detected in the S2p XPS spectrum after charging, which can occur due to evaporation of sulfur under UHV conditions. [33] The XPS results demonstrate that the Cu 3 PS 4 reacts with lithium according to a different mechanism than with sodium. Li 2 S is observed alongside the formation of P-[S] n -P intermediates at the SOC of II and prior to the formation of Cu 0 when the cell is fully discharged to 0.8 V. In line with the literature, the P-[S] n -P intermediates were found to be redox active according to changes in their relative intensities in the P2p spectra for different states of charge.…”
