Abstract: Fused pyrimidine derivatives R 0515Reaction of N-Aryl-3-oxobutanethioamides with 2-Amino-1,3-thiazole and 2-Amino-1,3-benzothiazole. -Aryl-substituted oxobutanethioamides (I) react with binucleophiles (II) in a nonselective fashion. Mixtures of pyrimidines (III) and pyrimidinethiones (IV) are formed whose ratio depends on the nature of the aryl substituent.
