“…In highly diluted methanol solutions at room temperature, 6 gives rise to the formation of the decakis(di-n-butyl (IV)) oxocluster, (n-Bu 2 SnO) 6 [(n-Bu 2 SnOR) 2 (CO 3 )] 2 (7), also characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, and also isolated from carbonation recycling experiments [4c]. In parallel, to prevent the deactivation of active organotin(IV) intermediates by water, several groups have shown that the addition of chemical water-trap, such as acetals [10] and ortho esters [11], as well as the use of additives, such as tetramethoxysilanes [12] and triflates salts [13], could promote the regeneration of tin(IV) alkoxide species, leading to a catalytic system.…”

“…Under these conditions, the authors reached a conversion around 1 % and observed a decrease to half of the activity between the first and second reactions. The deactivation of dibutyltin dimethoxide with water can be overcome by the regeneration of Bu 2 SnO with methanol in the presence of a dehydrating alcohol, such as 2,2-dimethoxypropane (DMP), as proposed by Kohno et al [87], at high carbon dioxide pressure and excess of DMP. The effects of the dehydrating alcohol are discussed in depth in the next section.…”
