Reaction-diffusion processes on interconnected scale-free networks

Abstract: We study the two particle annihilation reaction A + B → ∅ on interconnected scale free networks, using different interconnecting strategies. We explore how the mixing of particles and the process evolution are influenced by the number of interconnecting links, by their functional properties, and by the interconnectivity strategies in use. We show that the reaction rates on this system are faster than what was observed in other topologies, due to the better particle mixing which suppresses the segregation effec… Show more

“…At this point, it worth to notice that the phenomenology described so far partially agrees with the results presented earlier in Ref. [30] by A. Garas, where the same system was investigated from the more general perspective of different strategies of cross-systems interactions. However, by contrast with the conclusions drown in Ref.…”

“…Various research communities have advocated an integrated view of infrastructure systems, and a growing body of work is available on interdependencies (e.g., [31,32]). For instance, homeland security initiatives following the September 11th terrorist attacks in the United States spurred numerous efforts addressing infrastructure interdependencies (e.g., [33]).…”

“…See also Markey-Towler (2016) for a model that could possibly be expanded to make demand contingent upon consumers' interactions. Domenico et al, 2013;Radicchi, 2014;Garas, 2016). On the other hand, to make significant advances in understanding consumers' decisions, we must device a method for studying this process.…”
